Church Perks

Our ward gives away free bread after church. That's right, the church might just be a little more true here in the pacific northwest. A local bakery gives away what they can't sell at the end of the week. Some goes to homeless shelters (I have been told) and then our ward takes a bunch. Even though it is free and an unexpected treat when we first moved here as time goes by I find myself really annoyed on the Sundays there is not free bread. I rarely buy bread at the store anymore so when Sunday rolls around and there are not stacks of bread, donuts, hoagie rolls, hamburger buns and english muffins to choose from I find myself getting angry. WHERE IS MY FREE BREAD? I try not to let it ruin the spirit of Sunday but sometimes I can't help myself.

The church must have been true here in Tempe, Arizona as well... because we used to have an amazing bakery do the same thing. They had the BEST stuff and it made my heart so happy. Then the bakery shut down and WHAM the church wasn't true anymore. :) Hope the same fate doesn't befall your bakery.

i hear that if you don't get free bread, you don't have to pay tithing that sunday.

i love it! it sounds like some staged moral dilemma game, like you have a sunday school lesson that week about gratitude and then, bam - no bread.

Hey! I've found a similar connection here too. It's totally awesome. We got the yummiest bread and we've not eaten it all either. We're a huge fan of getting free, delicious bread.

We get not so great bagels. But it is not much of a surprise for the neighborhood we live in.

We don't get free bread here, I guess we just have to keep the faith!

I was pretty annoyed when there was no bread on Sunday. We had been gone on vacation and then it was Stake Conference, so I was in DIRE need of some!

I might actually have to go to the store this week and get a loaf to hold me over...how ludicrous!

Oh my goodness, Megs, you had me cracking up when I read this. I want some of that bread and I'd even be willing to pay for it.

I like it. It's a little Communist, but I like it. :)

Ah, Megan, I was in such a terrible mood and I knew you would deliver some sunshine! Sorry it is about something that annoys you, I guess that isn't the nicest thing for me to say? What I meant to say is I love your posts.
