When we moved into our house we got lots of advice and tips from our realtor, inspector and people who worked with the builder. Since we have never owned a home before we were taking notes and trying to remember everything.
I think the most important advice we got was during our final walk through when we were told this,
"When you go number one, flush one. When you go number two, flush two."
I think that is something we can live by.

are you sure they didn't work for the water company in saying that? that's a lot of flushes. whatever happened to if it's yellow let it mellow, if it's brown flush it down.
That is sound advice where ever you live.
I have fine water pressure but I always flush twice just in case company is coming over.

AMEN to that! I wish someone had told us that when we moved in. Those "water saving" toilets sure aren't powerful :)

it was fun reading your blog and getting a better sense for your personality. my favorite was the gym description--i've got the same super intense lady and the steroiders. what's funny about the steroiders is that if you watch, they really only do about three lifts the entire time they're at the gym...anyway, good for you for seeing the troll. i'll have to get the details from you--i think the girls would love it.
