Three Reasons Why I LOVE the Fall
1. It means that it is time to buy school supplies. I love getting new pencils, pens, paper, binders, dividers etc. I know I am not a student so I am hoping that Matt will let me go with him to pick out his gear.
2. I don't sweat every time I leave the house. The crisp air here is a nice change from the humidity we had the last three years in Austin. It is nice to run errands and not come back needing to shower again.
3. College football has started. While there are times it seems to take over our life, (and by our life I mean Matt's life) it is still fun to follow the teams. Go Cougs!!

Trend Setter
I have never been one to follow all the fashion trends. I just can't keep up. Blake on the other hand is quite the trend setter. He clearly thought the off the shoulder look was the best way to be the center of attention at play group this morning. Sorry I had to change you out of your jammies before we left!

I love not having a dishwasher
Who's weaning who??
My little sister Meredith is dying right now because I used the word "weaning" in my title. Seriously though, Blake tossed us a curve ball this last week and Matt and I are still a bit dazed. From the beginning Blake took quickly to "Mr. Binks" (thanks for the name Grandma Jan) Matt and I were unsure if we even wanted him to take a pacifier, but we quickly learned what a life saver it can be. Matt and I have said that at one year we will take the Bink away even if it was tough. Blake is one step ahead of us. This last week he has decided he no longer has a need for the bink. Matt and I are scrambling. What happened to our baby. He is not sleeping well, he is grumpy, and now NO BINK!! I think he must be teething. I AM NOT READY TO GIVE UP THE BINK. So Blake if you are reading this, Please please please take the bink back for two and half more months and then give it up like we all planned!

Thursday Three
Three things that made me question the kind of day I was going to have
1. I woke up to serious thunder and lightening. One can only hope for another power outage.
2. When Matt kissed Blake goodbye Matt said, "WHOA, someone took a poop!" as he happily went off to catch the bus. Lucky me. (before my family can comment, it was Blake who took the poop!)
3. When Matt left, Blake just stared at the closed door crying and then turned and looked at me like "Another day with just you!"
Good times ahead today!

Luckily I watched Little Women on Saturday
Because it prepared me for the power outage we had last night. I had my candles ready and while very annoying to have no power for 8 hours during the evening/night, I thoroughly enjoyed walking around the house with a candle in tow.
Note: Update on previous post http://meganmullins.blogspot.com/2007/08/i-wish-i-had-accent.html - The dark is probably my number one fear. It makes me feel claustrophobic and very nervous and the list goes on. Well, the power was still out when Matt left for his review session, but I was brave. I lasted two and a half hours alone in the dark. Sure I asked him not to go to best buy after his review because I thought I was hearing things, but come on; Rome wasn't built in a day.

You never get a second chance to make a first impression
But seriously, why would you need one. It is not like your new Bishop just came over at 11:30am and you were still in your pjs which were on backwards and inside out. It is not like you hadn't touched your hair and the right side was getting some amazing volume in the wrong direction. It is not like you couldn't invite them to sit down because you had boxes everywhere from doing some unpacking last night so they had to stand in the crowded doorway. Who needs a second chance? NOT ME. Hopefully Blake was cute enough for all of us!

I wish I had an accent
Since we were moving to a new place I decided it would be a great time to reinvent myself. You know, change the things I don't like about myself. Since no one knows me here I could have a fresh start. First thing I thought of: An Accent. I would love to have a British accent. Sure it seemed like a lot of work, but how cool. Then my sister-in-law Meredith asked me to give her a sneak preview of my new accent and I couldn't even say one word so there went that idea.
After I got a bit more realistic, I found some things I really think I can do. Here are a couple.
1) Be myself. Sometimes I hold back a bit unsure of what people will think and then about six months in I hear people say "so this is the real Megan. We like her!" No holding back. What you see is what you get.
2)I am not going to be afraid. Not even of my new basement. I am a HUGE scaredy cat. It sometimes rules my life. I decided I hate being scared all the time. Easier said than done, but I am really going to work on it. For example, Today I am scared to ride the bus to campus to meet Matt for lunch. I even tried to back out of it this morning, but Matt was so disappointed that we weren't coming so I bucked up and said "see you at noon!" During my whole work out I stressed over it, but I am going to get on the bus today.
Wish me LUCK!

867 Square Feet of FUN!!
That is what I am living in right now. We just moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan for Matt to attend the University of Michigan's Business School. It was a sad goodbye to Austin where we have spent the last three years, but we are so excited to be here and get to know a new place and new people. We live in married student housing which is a bit of a tight squeeze, but after getting our stuff in and getting organized I think it is going to work out great. The neighborhood is so fun with courtyards and playgrounds all over.

Name that Blog
People kept asking me when I was going to start a blog. I knew I wanted to get settled in Ann Arbor before jumping into it. This gave me and my family plenty of time to come up with possible blog names. Here are a few for your entertainment.
Green Megs and Ham
Megaroni Grill
Bienavenido a Megsico
A little something Megstra
A hint of nutmeg
Which came first the Chicken or the Meg
M&M
a few math jokes (hard to type out, but they did get a few laughs)
Anymore suggestions? I am not commiting to anything quite yet. Just trying out a few things.

You get what you pay for
Matt and I stayed at a sweet hotel on our way to Ann Arbor. The full size bed was awesome. My skin was not loving the sheets and I woke up with some itchy rash (luckily it was short lived and nothing a little lotion couldn't fix). Love it. We had to get a room for three because the life size spider that made it's web outside our door needed a place to stay. I was so happy to end our stay and head out back on the road. We sprung for two full size beds on night number 2. Matt is so good to me.
Two and a half men
Since I was a little kid, my mom always called me Mr. Megs. I never really questioned it. I would walk in the door from school and I would remember her saying, "How was school, Mr. Megs?" Well, the nickname stuck and to this day my sisters and mom will bust it out thinking they are so funny. We all have a good laugh. I guess I could be called worse.
So, that's why they call me Mr. Megs.
